This novel is not for non christians. I found it a long tiresome sermon on religion.
Good for Talking Points!

Reviewer: Reading Fan
I would recommend the book since it presents many good talking points, even though I don't think it gives a clear, accurate presentation of the Gospel and the nature of God. It's a very good and exciting plot (which I will let you discover for yourself) and would make a very good movie. More importantly, it should lead to important discussions about Christianity, what it means, and how it works. In short, the mood was good though the accuracy was not - at least in my opinion.
I really liked the stress put on the forgiveness that we are commanded to give others. It is a message that most Christians (starting with me) struggle with and is by its nature, unfair, just like Christ's dying for those who seek him is unfair! I also liked the loving relationships that the members of the Trinity have for one another, a picture of how we are to love our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Anyway, read the book and talk about it. That's what I recommend.

this is far and above one of the best books I have ever read. besides the Bible, it portraits God in many different facets. just what you need, when you need it. I highly recommend this to anyone.
An annual read

TheShack is my newest gift to give friends and family. For me this will become an annual read as a reminder of the truth of forgiveness and God's love. Not preachy, but poignant in revealing perspective on the trinity, God's relationship to humankind and the meaning of forgiveness.
